Endocrinology studentships awarded
May 2008
The Society for Endocrinology has funded two summer studentships in the Endocrine Sciences Research Group in the School of Clinical and Laboratory Sciences.
The Society for Endocrinology established this studentship scheme to assist undergraduate students gain research experience by working in a research environment over a ten-week period. The student gets a chance to work alongside clinicians and/or scientists on a project currently running in the laboratory. It is hoped that this will inspire the students to take their interest in endocrinology further and consider a career in the discipline.
The two studentships are:
- 'Analysis of ultradian pulsatility and its effects on glucocorticoid action'
To fund Andrew McMaster, a first year medical undergraduate, in Professor David Ray’s group - 'Do polymorphisms in JAK-2 and STAT-5 influence growth response to growth hormone treatment in children?'
To fund Ajibola Omokanye, a fourth year medical undergraduate, in Professor Peter Clayton’s paediatric endocrine group
