Mental health book scoops award

A book entitled 'Primary Care Mental Health' has bagged first prize in the Primary Health Care category of the BMA Medical Book Awards 2010.
The book, edited by Linda Gask and Helen Lester, in the School of Community-Based Medicine, University of Manchester, and Tony Kendrick and Robert Peveler, University of Southampton, was published in October 2009.
The book features a host of internationally-respected authors who explore how practitioners in primary care can best respond to psychiatric presentations. They discuss ways of improving joint working between primary and secondary care, as well as issues affecting the professional development of all practitioners within primary care teams.
The book’s reviewer commented: “This is a source of informed, practical advice on a wide variety of mental health issues encountered in primary care.”
