New Manchester lead for National School of Primary Care Research

Helen Lester has joined the National Primary Care Research and Development Centre as Professor of Primary Care, and will be the Manchester lead for the National School of Primary Care Research established at the University. She will be working with the quality team and the primary care mental health group.
Helen’s current projects include a national evaluation of early intervention services for young people with first episode psychosis, a randomised controlled trial to establish whether Joint Crisis Plans are effective for mental health service users, an evaluation of the effectiveness of education in primary care on patterns of GP referral to early intervention services, and work around the value of befriending for people with common mental health problems.
