School of Translational Medicine
All three research groups have science bases on the main campus, with clinical and translational research at the University of Manchester affiliated teaching hospitals.
- Inflammation Sciences
This research group is headed by Professor Sarah O'Brien. Translational research is carried out at Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust (dermatology, gastrointestinal sciences), and the University Hospital of South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust (wound healing). - Musculoskeletal
This research group is headed by Professor Jane Worthington. Translational research is carried out at Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (inflammatory joint diseases), and at Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust (scleroderma, degenerative joint disease, pain) - Respiratory Medicine
This research group is headed by Professor Adnan Custovic. Translational research is carried out at the University Hospital of South Manchester NHS Foundation Trust. The major research interests are in the early life origins of asthma/allergy, lung infections, and airway inflammation
