Raising Cancer awareness in young people

Cancer is the most common cause of natural death in young people in the UK. There are a number of cancers that show a peak incidence in young people (aged 16-25 years) and these cancer types usually present with certain classic symptoms. However, young people with cancer often take some time to diagnose. This is partly due to not seeking early medical help as key symptoms are not recognised. Young people may also face delays when they do go to their doctor as symptoms are often misdiagnosed for more common illnesses. It is vital that you seek early help with any symptoms suggestive of cancer in order to be diagnosed and therefore treated at the earliest opportunity.

Most young people with these symptoms do not have cancer. However, if you have any of these symptoms and they are 'persistent' or 'worsening' please see your GP early and take this information with you.

Remember: most of the time its nothing but SOMETIMES IT'S CANCER
