Hair follicle biology
The group dissects key aspects of hair follicle biology and pathology, ranging from the molecular controls of hair follicle development (in mice) and hair follicle pigmentation (in humans) to the chronobiological systems that cyclically transform this continuously regenerating minorgan in the so-called hair cycle. The group also studies the damage response and damage repair patterns of human hair follicles to biological, chemical, and physical stressors. Special current research foci are:
