About us
The Health Sciences research group is multidisciplinary and extends across the clinical, qualitative, quantitative and social sciences. With our roots in both social and clinical sciences, our research includes a focus on a wide range of health policy, public health and clinical and social issues. Our expertise permits:
- an increased understanding of the context and influences on change in health organisations, professional practice and workforce
- the social, contextual and psychological influences of health-related actions and behaviour operating in every day life which are critical elements to policy implementation in enabling people to lead healthier lives
Our staff have a wide range of methodological expertise and our research ranges from the design implementation and evaluation of complex interventions in medicine, policy and organisations through to health economics, occupational health risks, and the design of new Digital Health innovations.
Quantitative disciplines of biostatistics and epidemiology are fundamental to addressing the impact of health problems which focus on entire populations whilst qualitative research is the method of choice for understanding how organisations and professionals adapt to change, and how patients experience illness, engage with services and make decisions about treatment.
