Infection Control and Cross Infection Guidelines for Residential Care Homes and Care Homes with Nursing

The aims of these guidelines are:

To provide advice for and Residential Care Home managers which on a day-to-day basis will help to minimise the spread of infection in your institutions.
To provide contact names and telephone numbers should more detailed advice be needed on communicable disease issues.
To summarise for the main infections, the approach to control and the rationale for recommending a member of staff’s absence from work if they have an infectious illness.
To describe in detail appropriate action to be taken should a particular infection develop in a resident or a member of staff.
To outline the action to be taken should an increase in illness occur within the Care Homes with Nursing or Residential Care Home.
