Postgraduate research
The Mental Health and Neurodegeneration Research Group has an international reputation for high-quality mental health related research and offers studentships in a variety of research themes.
For further details, see: research themes.
The Mental Health and Neurodegeneration Research Group is part of the School of Community Based Medicine and is currently headed by Professor Jenny Shaw. The leaders of each research theme meet on a regular basis and at the Research Strategy Sub-Committee in an effort to ensure that all research follows a coherent strategic direction. Our research is largely multidisciplinary and aims to combine social, psychological and biological approaches in order to understand better the causes and effects of mental disorder.
Students are well supported during their studies both by their academic supervisory team and by an active Graduate Skills Training Programme.
Studentships and funding
Charity, research council and university and overseas research student scholarships are the main source of funding for studentships within the group. For further details, see: Studentships and funding.
