About us

The National Confidential Inquiry into Suicide and Homicide by People with Mental Illness is a UK-wide research project established at the University of Manchester in April 1996 and forms part of the School of Community Based Medicine, Mental Health and Neurodegeneration Research Group.

The Inquiry collects information from England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland and is funded by the:
 


The Inquiry collects detailed clinical information on all suicides and homicides that occur under mental health services, our work is broadly divided into 'Core research' and 'Projects'.
