Research within the Musculoskeletal Research Group (MRG) is often multi-disciplinary. Projects frequently bridge between themes and involve both basic science and clinical studies, combining genetic and environmental epidemiology and clinically-based trial research.

Research in the MRG is closely aligned with the newly established NIHR Manchester Musculoskeletal Biomedical Research Unit, which is a partnership between The University of Manchester and Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.
