Online learning at the COEH
As our programmes are offered via distance learning (with only minimal attendance at the University), we have a 'blended learning' approach for our delivery. All teaching materials are supplied online, supported by interactive exercises and case studies, available via the University's e-Learning delivery platform: Blackboard.
We have also developed an e-portfolio programme, where students work together in small groups with support from an e-tutor who is an occupational medicine specialist. Students engage in online discussion with their peers and benefit from the differing clinical backgrounds and experience contained within the groups.
In addition, we use web and audio conferencing tools extensively, allowing students to interact with tutors in 'real time' and partake in data collaboration/exchange online, wherever they may be.
Future developments for our programmes include the use of summative online assessment, podcasts and other virtual learning tools.
