Candidates are selected from the students admitted to the MBChB undergraduate course of The University of Manchester, including those from The University of St Andrews. The minimum criterion for admission is satisfactory achievement in years 1 to 3 / 4 of the undergraduate medical programme, with no failure at any examination in the past 2 academic years.

For University of St Andrews students, this includes their three-year degree programme and the following one or two years spent in Manchester (years 3 and 4 of the Manchester programme). We also accept home medical and dental graduates and international medical graduates who can demonstrate relevant experience and commitment to biomedical research.

Course fees: For entry in the academic year beginning September 2012, the tuition fees are as follows:

• MRes (full-time)
  UK/EU students (per annum): £6,800
  International students (per annum): £17,800

The fees quoted above will be fully inclusive for the course tuition, administration and computational costs during your studies.

All fees for entry will be subject to yearly review and incremental rises per annum are also likely over the duration of courses lasting more than a year for UK/EU students (fees are typically fixed for International students, for the course duration at the year of entry). Note: The deadline for external applications for September 2011 entry is the end of February 2011.

Manchester Medical students intending to intercalate also need initial approval to do so from their Hospital Dean and must satisfy the Medical School's separate regulations for intercalation. Candidates will then be interviewed by the MRes panel. The online application should only be made if the interview process is successful.
