Postgraduate research: PhD/MPhil
The School of Medicine is a world-class facility for carrying out medical research in many areas. With strong links to local hospitals and general practices, there are opportunities for pursuing a wide variety of research interests.
The School has a devolved style of operation and management based on research groups, which are responsible for delivering its research and teaching. Each research group has a designated postgraduate tutor and training co-ordinator.

Research areas
For research degree applications, the School recommends that research students get as much information about the research programme they have an interest in before applying, preferably via the proposed supervisor or by contacting the postgraduate research tutor in the relevant research group.
Individual staff members will be happy to discuss research interests with a view to providing supervision to research students. To find a relevant staff member, browse the School's 'research groups' or 'search for a member of staff' with related research interests.
If you are unsure which research group your research area falls under, please contact the School of Medicine Graduate Office (details above).
