Adam Firth
Academic Clinical Fellow in General Practice (UK)
What attracted you to the course?
As part of my NIHR Academic Clinical Fellowship in General Practice I have had the opportunity to begin studying for the MRes (Primary Care). One of the most attractive aspects for me is the global focus of the course which is present both in the modules in a theoretical sense and reinforced through the discussion boards, in a practical way, with participants from so many countries.
How has the experience been for you?
The MRes has been fantastic so far with relevant modules supported by friendly tutors and administration staff. Almost immediately after starting the Evidence Based Practice module I found my clinical practice had changed with the ability to ask focussed, clinical questions and a new enthusiasm to answer them.
How is taking the course helping you with your career plans?
For me the MRes is a bridge to a applying for a PhD and the modules available allow me to focus on the areas of Primary Care research that interest me. I am confident that my research and clinical practice has already benefitted and I’m anticipating that subsequent modules will further influence my development as a clinical academic.
