Alex Walter
GP registrar / NIHR Academic Clinical Fellow in Primary Care Research (UK)
The MRes course was incorporated into my 4 year joint clinical and academic training (at the end of which I will be a GP). It has been an excellent experience and although the MRes for me was the "academic" part of my training programme I think that many of the insights gained have had an impact on my clinical practice, e.g. learning about different national health care systems has helped me understand the needs and expectations of patients who have migrated to the UK. The course has certainly helped me with career plans and I intend to develop a PhD proposal over the next couple of years.
