Kristen Research Assistant at Alberta Health and Wellness, (Canada)

What attracted you to the course?

After a year of working in public health, I decided this field was my passion and I wanted to do an MPH; however, I also wanted to continue to gain experience in the field. Doing my MPH part- time online allows me to be flexible with my work schedule because I do not have lectures to attend, and I can do my course work at any time during the week. The online University of Manchester programme is also more established than other online MPH programmes available from other universities.

How was the experience been for you?

It has been excellent! My work has been extremely supportive of me completing my MPH. Working while studying has allowed me apply my work experience to my studies, and my studies to my work. Also, the online programme has allowed me to connect with other working students from all over the world and to exchange experiences and ideas.

How has taking the course helped you with your career plans?

Coming from a biological sciences background, the MPH programme has increased my knowledge of the social and population aspects health. With my MPH, I feel more confident taking on stronger roles and responsibilities in the field of public health, while continuing to expand my knowledge as I gain experience.
