A two-day residential is held at The University of Manchester at the beginning of the academic year. It is designed to give introduction to online learning environment and general orientation of materials that students use throughout the course, including:
- Introduction to core units
- Opportunity to meet tutors, eLearning support staff and administrators
- Introduction to online learning environment
- Introduction to e-resources at Manchester
Students are encouraged to attend the residential but it is not compulsory, as the same induction material is available online.
Confirmation of attendance on the residential will be sought once students have applied for the course.

Purpose
The residential course is designed to introduce students to the content and technology involved in the MPH. It is also an opportunity to meet academic, technical and support staff. Many students in the past have found it helpful to attend, however mindful of the international recruitment of this course, attendance is not compulsory.
Students will need to make their own travel and accommodation arrangements, these are not funded by the course.
