Are there any reasons why I cant take part in the study?
You will not be able to take part in the study if:
- You are over 55 years of age
- You have, or have had, some other medical or psychiatric conditions (apart from depression)
- You are allergic to citalopram or escitalopram or have a medical condition that makes having citalopram risky
- • You have depression that has lasted more than a year on this occasion or it has not responded to citalopram or escitalopram, to two or more antidepressants, or you have received lithium or ECT
- You are on regular medication that might affect the results
- You are in, or have recently taken part in, another research study that could interfere with this one
- You regularly drink large amounts of alcohol, have excessive caffeine consumption, smoke heavily or take street/illicit drugs
- You have metal implants inside your body or any metal in your body from an accident or injury
- You are or might be pregnant
