Lung cancer

UHSM is situated in an area with the highest incidence of lung cancer in the UK. We are developing early diagnosis/ screening/treatment of Lung Cancer, including the evaluation of new fibre optic bronchoscopic technologies (autofluorescence and narrow band imaging, endobronchial ultrasound, radial ultrasound for distal image guided biopsy, photodynamic therapy and endobronchial stenting).

We seek to identify drivers of lung cancer carcinogenesis in serial biopsies of progressive preneoplastic lesions. There are close links to Lung Oncology at the Christie Hospital
