Role

Jenny currently works as a research assistant in the department of respiratory medicine, working primarily on the Manchester Asthma and Allergy Study (MAAS). She is also a PhD student in the same group. Jenny's role as a research assistant has involved the preparation and maintenance of DNA samples for MAAS as well as the many collaborating study groups. Jenny is responsible for the genotyping of the MAAS cohort as well as the other collaborating sample sets. As a PhD student Jenny is carrying out a series of functional experiments to follow up previous genetic associations found in MAAS.

Biography

After graduating from Manchester University in 2001 with a BSc in Neuroscience, Jenny joined the immunology group in the faculty of life sciences at Manchester University. Jenny worked as a research assistant on a project characterising the genetics of the host immune response to parasitic infection in mice. Jenny joined the respiratory group in 2004, where she worked as a research assistant under the supervision of Angela Simpson. Based in the Centre of Genomic Medical Research (CIGMR), Jenny oversaw all of the genetic work surrounding the Manchester Asthma and Allergy Study (MAAS) together with the many collaborating cohorts that are maintained within CIGMR. In 2007 Jenny started a PhD in functional genomics under the supervision of Professor Adnan Custovic and Dr John Curtin.
