Role
As a Senior Healthcare Scientist I have several years’ research experience in the field of Photobiology. During my research career I have undertaken research in both in vivo and in vitro projects including investigating methods of improving and developing photodynamic therapy for the treatment of cancer. This work has included detailed examination of the effects of structural modifications of photosensitizers on sensitizer efficiency. Currently I am involved in a Wellcome Trust funded research collaboration between the Photobiology Unit and two external universities, and phototesting trials of an α-MSH analogue in the photoprotection of photosensitivity disorders. My publications include 11 original manuscripts and one book chapter. I have presented extensively at 5 international and 14 national conferences, including 2 invited talks. I have experience of both undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and supervision both at a tutorial level and at a project based level, including 2 PhDs.
