Role

Linda is part of the Health Economics Research at Manchester team, based in the Health Methodology Research Group (HMRG), a new multi-disciplinary research group, including Biostatistics and Health Informatics within the School of Community Based Medicine. Her key roles are the design and implementation of economic evaluations in mental health and chronic disabilities, focussing on complex interventions for people with complex needs and measurement and valuation of preferences for health and social care. Linda is a member of the HMRG management team.

Research

  • Economics of mental health
  • Designs and methods of explanatory economic analysis of complex interventions
  • Patient and public preferences for process and outcomes of health care
  • Economic evaluation of complex and simple health and social interventions (exploratory economic modelling and trial based economic analysis)

New research projects include:

  1. A multicentre, randomised controlled trial of cognitive therapy to reduce harmful compliance with command hallucinations. Grant applicants: M Birchwood, L M Davies, G Dunn, H Lester, E Peters, S W Lewis, N Tarrier, T Wykes. Medical Research Council
  2. Patients, Professionals and the Internet: Renegotiating the Healthcare Encounter. Grant applicants: A Laing, T Newholme, S Minocha , G Hogg, J Hayden, L Davies. SDO.
  3. Designs and methods of explanatory (causal) analysis for randomised trials of complex interventions in mental health. G Dunn, L Davies, JM Green, A Pickles, C Roberts, IR White, F Windjmeier. Medical Research Council.
